What is Anxiety?

Anxiety can simply be described as the body’s alarm system that warns us of an imminent threat or danger. This alarm system can sometimes malfunction and cause frequent excessive fear, apprehension or nervousness. An individual is said to have anxiety disorder when he/ she has excessive anxiety and worry (apprehensive expectation), occurring more days than not for at least 6 months.

Symptoms of anxiety

  • Feeling of impending doom
  • Fatigue
  • Restlessness
  • Palpitation
  • shortness of breath,
  • chest pain
  • choking sensation
  • light-headed;
  • sweating
  • trembling, tingling or numbness in arms and legs
  • tense muscles,
